My Review:
My youngest son is 8 years old. He is gradually learning Bible stories. We realized he needed his own Bible so he could read on his own without having to use his sister’s Bible or an electronic Bible.
Personally, we like kids to have a real Bible not just one that is read on a e-reader. It is easy to forget how large a Bible is when it is on just on the iPhone or Kindle.
I’m guilty myself just reading the Bible on iPad. So, when this came in the mail – I even got excited to see how colorful all the pages were.
On every page, it seemed to have a nugget of Bible trivia and cute artwork. I remember being a child being bored in a “big church” and flipping through my Children’s Bible and falling in love with all the people on the pages. This Bible doesn’t have that kind of artwork but it is even better for my son, it is filled with photos of animals. He loves animals and every page has a animal of some sort.
It also has neat little tidbits called “Did you know?” on almost every page. My son asked – should I read those? We were like YES! We want to encourage our children to love their Bibles and when something doesn’t make sense these little tidbits encourage them to continue to read. Plus, they are just fun.
Another part of the Bible I liked was “Life in the Bible Times” little cartoons. One of them talked about Children Names in the Old Testament. They explained how people gave their children special names that had special meanings. Since my children are named after something special this hit home to me.
Another thing I liked was the print. It is easy to read and easy to follow.
I also always look at maps at the back. These seemed pretty accurate. We use them in school when we are learning about ancient times and these are useful.
The one thing I didn’t like was the hardback. It seems like the book will get messed up quickly just by carrying to Sunday School or easily indented. I wish they had a leather version – which at this time, I couldn’t find one.
Another thing I like is that it is New King James Version. I like this version and it is one that my family reads together.
Honestly, I would totally recommend this Bible for any of my friends for their kids.
Blessings to you! You are loved!
