I made this for my hubs on Thanksgiving. The recipe comes from his Granny, only I tweaked it a bit. (That is what I do to every recipe. It makes me feel a little rebellious and more like a Liberal, who wears no bra. Did I just write that? My mother tried to raise me right!)
Okay, onto the “Most Yummiest Recipe EVER” said my sons over their Thanksgiving Meal.

Granny’s Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Set out the strawberries to thaw when you begin this recipe. I forget every.single.time.
1st layer
- 2 cups crushed pretzel (Place in ziploc bag and hit with mallet – This makes me so HAPPY for some reason!)
- 1 1/2 cups melted butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
Mix all together and place in buttered 13X9 glass dish
Bake a 350 for 10 minutes. Let it totally cool or the recipe will be ruined
2nd layer
- 1-8oz. package of cream cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups cool whip
Mix together and spread on cooled pretzel layer
3rd layer
- 2 cups hot unsweetened pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
***(This is what I tweaked…I just used HOT water and NO sugar here.)
- 2-3oz or 1-6oz strawberry jell-o
- 2-10oz package frozen strawberries
***(I actually ran them under warm water in a strainer.)
Heat the juice and dissolve the sugar and jell-o. add strawberries. Mix together in bowl and place in fridge until it starts to gel but is not solid. Pour over the cream cheese/pretzel layers.
Cover and place in fridge overnight to gel solid.
***(I just covered for a few hours and it was still delish!)
Cut to serve. Makes 15 to 20 servings depending on the size that you want.
This is NOT one of the fastest recipes in my book but it was still pretty easy! My kids preferred this to all the pies – now that is what I’m talking about!
Blessings to you!!! You are loved!!!

I cannot believe you called this recipe a SALAD. I was expecting something at least sort of healthy…or with lettuce…
luckily, this looks better than real salad. Yum! TFS!

I make the same salad except w/ out the strawberries. We just add a can of crushed pineapple thickened with cornstarch as the top layer. It has become a family favorite.
