He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. ~Jim Elliot~

My kids and I have been studying South America for the past month. We have had so much fun and yet are sad to leave this study.
It has been interesting to learn about different missionaries who have basically given their lives to spreading the gospel of Christ. We were actually in tears learning of Nate Saint and how he and 4 others gave their life in order to share what true forgiveness means.
My hubs has been reading nightly to the kids a biography of Nate Saint. It has been such a bonding experience. It has been like our entire family has been in South America.
South America has always been special in my life. I had the opportunity to go to Venezuela when I was younger, before marriage. We had went on a medical mission trip and I fell in love with the people, culture and of course the food.
The more we study, the more I want to take our family on more trips. I’d love to take them to the jungles and take a ride down the Amazon river. They want to visit Brazil. Of course, Ecuador would be on the itinerary as well.
I’m dreaming of taking our family to South America. Wouldn’t that be an awesome trip?
Okay, enough dreaming at the moment. I am going to go have myself a cup of Java (that comes from Brazil) and start working on our new venture of learning (Europe).
If you ever get a chance to learn about Nate Saint or Jim Elliot, even if you are not a Christian, they truly lived their lives for others. I just wonder if others lived the same way – what the world would look like?
Blessings to you!!! You are loved!!!

You’ve inspired me! I read about Nate Saint a long time ago, but I now think we’ll pick it up as a family. Whatever your ‘confessions’, you seem able to inspire. In my book, that’s 99% of being a homeschooling mum. ‘Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire’…..one of my favourite quotes.
We’re preparing for our 2nd trip to your wonderful country – going next week and have LOADS still to do! Loving’ your blog. Ta … from Scotland x
