After 7 years – we are saying goodbye to Mr. Berber. It has been great carpet. The reasons we are getting tile are – allergies and because tile is cooler (we live in a very hot climate). When we pulled up the berber, I was surprised at the lack of dirt and the padding still looked fairly new. {The last time we pulled up carpet, the padding was disintegrating and the carpet was dirty!} We are giving our carpet away to a local contractor who helps re-builds homes for people who might not even have floors. What a blessing to be able to help someone instead of filling a landfill.
I love to re-use things to help others!
What would you do with extra carpet?
Just a little tip:
Shop around like crazy for tile prices. I was totally surprised about the variances in prices and the grade of tile being offered. All tile is not the same! All porcelain is not the same!

We were led to assume numerous times that all porcelain was the same color all the way through and that was incorrect. Looking at the Porcelain Enamel Institute grade (PEI) is a good way to see what is good for your situation. The grade is usually on the box.
Usually the big home improvement stores only carry grades 3 to 4, at least the ones that we saw. PEI 5 is used outdoor or in heavy traffic areas.
Don’t be afraid to negotiate on flooring, even with the big stores. Many times we have hung up and said we will think about it then received a call back from a company, saying they would go even lower on their price. That is what I’m talking about!
Blessings to you! You are loved!
