May they RIP…

February 8, 2011 Lana

We live in a place that doesn’t freeze very often.  In fact, this is only the 3rd time in the last 8 years that I remember it hitting the 30’s.

Our electricity was out for over 6 hours.  Fun times!  Luckily, we still did our homeschool work.My succulent... It looks so sad now…not sure if it will come back.  All the plants in my backyard…are gone.  (sniff sniff)P2040436 Ice ice baby!P2040438 My oyster plants are gone.P2040440No snow…but tons of ice.  P2040442My sheets blew off.  Plus, my hubs fixed the sprinklers and they were not turned off…adding more ice.    I’m praying my birds of paradise will come back.  P2040444 My birds did make it through the freeze.  I’ve been amazed at all the hummingbirds…they are so fat.P2040451 These steps were slippery…I found out first hand.P2040443This is my Texas Winter Shoe Wear.

How do you save your tropical plants?  Next time, I’m thinking I’ll use boxes and make sure the sprinklers are turned off.

By the way, check out my new header!  Tell me what you think!  It was my first time that I made my own.  🙂

Blessings to you!  You are loved!

In Florida I can remember our buddy’s daddy who owned a nursery leaving the sprinklers on to keep the plants warm. It was so beautiful, like a winter wonderland, but the plants survived. Go precious son-in-law! Okay, you need some toe socks gal! It’s back in the 20’s here this morning. Need to cuddle with some 5 kids!!!!!!

It has frozen every winter that I have lived in the RGV. I thought this was an every year occurrence.

    I love your new header.

I think we live close to each other and my plants made it.. I think. I forgot to cover them but I’m trying to stay positive. I get good succulents at IKEA for cheap.

Oh, your poor plants. I don’t do plants. I kill them. No matter the weather. 😉

Love the winter shoes. I’m so cold (even in Central Texas) that I haven’t taken off my Uggs since I bought them over a month ago.

    Thanks for popping by blog.

I hope your family has a lovely Valentine’s Day!

My heart is hurting for your plants! My mama lives in Matagorda and Austin, she was hit by the ice too! (hhh & Subscribed)

It has been extremely cold here also. More so than usual. As of right now, it is a rain/snow mix outside.

By the way, I think your header is very nice! 🙂 Good job!

May the LORD bless you and keep you; May the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May He turn His face toward you and give you peace. Feel free to leave a comment - we LOVE to hear your thoughts! ~Blessings to you!~ ~You are so loved!~ ~Lana (Like Banana)~
