Gifts that don’t cost money

November 6, 2012 Lana

November is probably my favorite month!

A few reasons I love this month is I had 2 beautiful baby boys in November.  Texas heat turns into cooler weather.  Not to mention, everyone around us is so much more giving and thankful this month.

Every year, I try to do the 30 Day Giving Challenge.

I start off with good intentions but 30 days for me is hard.  Instead of beating up myself because I forget, I am good with once a week for a month.  But, that is ME! Please challenge yourself to as many days as you can give!  Seriously, I probably do the 30 days, ok in reality it is really 365 days, I am a Mom and Moms give their entire lives away when they have a child. Lol!

My life is truly all about giving, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  One day when I see Jesus face to face – I want Him to recognize His-self in me.  He truly is all about giving!

But, during this month it is about being intentional.  And for me and my home – it is about giving with intent – just to bless others.  I want my kids to do most of it in secret – just for the sake of being KIND and LOVING OTHERS, like Christ.

You might be saying:  “But, I have no money…what can I give?”

So glad you asked!

Gifts that Don’t Cost Money:

  •  A kind word.  When is the last time you told your Postman or Pastor that you appreciate them?
  • Instead of saving leftovers, bless your neighbors with dinner.
  • Rake leaves for a friend.  Have the entire family do it without getting caught.
  • Write with lipstick on the bathroom mirror that you LOVE your husband.
I guess you could only wear that same lipstick to bed. Did I say that?  This is a G rated blog?!
Hey, we do have 5 kids – give me some slack. Lol!
  • Call a Grandparent and have a kid sing them a song or have them read a book.
  • Babysit for a young couple who might need a nap or a date night.
  • Play a game with your kids just for fun.

There are so many things a person can give. The 30 Day Challenge has a Pinterest Board just for giving ideas!  Feel free to check it out!  The ideas on there are great and super easy.  Most of them don’t cost a lot and really will bless others.

Teaching my kids to give and they will never be able to out-give God has truly blessed my heart more than any other fundamental Mom task I have ever had.  Seeing them give to others brings so much joy and is better than Christmas morning.

If no one has told you lately – YOU really are loved!  I pray that God blesses you this month to His Awesome Glory!

Blessings to you!  You are loved!
