This week we have been in my hometown, north of Houston, fixing up an old little house that we have aptly named “Grandma’s Cottage” for my Grandma, who is 85 years young.

Such a darling house that sits right next to where my Grandma has been living. In fact, we used to live right behind it in a house that was burned down a few years ago.
My hubby and I got married down the street in a little old country church, where he was the youth pastor. I went to school (from kinder to 12 grade) in this precious community, both my parents also graduated from there.
My hubby and I fell in love in this area. Although, it doesn’t even have a post office or a Wal-Mart (the nearest one is 15 minutes away) – it is home.
We want to make this place a home for my sweet Grandma. I should mention, most of the photos are not “Before…Before” photos. My parents have already been working on this house for a few months before we showed up to help.
This kitchen was a putrid green. No one should ever be allowed to paint anything that green color. Dumpsters should not even be allowed to be that green. It gives me the shudders to think someone actually liked that color. For the sake of humanity, please don’t do this to future generations.
This is the master bedroom. Bright and airy. I cannot wait to share what this room will look like – it just screams “I’m a Grandma’s Cottage Bedroom!” Think chenille and lace.
A Grandma’s Cottage would be incomplete with a “Sewing Room!” Oh, this is one fun room for a Grandma who made me sleep in pins and needles because she would forget to remove all of them in my homemade jammies. But, it would be worth it because I had the cutest jammies growing up. Now, my kids understand that phrase all too well. Every Grandma should have a magnet to check clothes…hmm…that sounds like a cool invention.
This is the bathroom. Very little but perfect for Grandma’s Cottage. Plus, the décor in here is going to be so cute! My Mom and I shopped online together and picked out the colors, the shower curtain, the rug, and the towels. Isn’t it fun shopping, even online together?
We had a Pinterest Board, called Grandma’s Cottage that we also bounced ideas off of one another so we would be on the same page. My Grandma loves nature, particularly Butterflies and Birds, so we had to think accordingly. It was kind of fun decorating for someone else and trying to imagine if they would like it or nix the idea.
For some reason, I forget to grab a picture of the living room, dining room, and the storage room. Well, I was scared of the storage room. It is unfinished and dark. I’ll send a brave kid in there and get them to take a photo of it (Because their Mom is a big chicken.)
Ok, more is to come in further posts…
