A friend of mine contacted me (and my daughter) last week about keeping her kids while her and her hubby went out of town.
I love these calls!
Can I just say it is always an honor to help my friends who need a get-a-way with their husband?
(He was playing peek-a-boo! Can you say adorable?)
When my kids were younger, I am amazed our marriage survived. We needed this time alone. Time without our kids just did not happen very often for us. But, when it did, I felt like we were able to get focus, reconnect WHY we got married and sleep. Oh, the blessed sleep.
Now that my kids are older they don’t need us as much and it easier in that respect.
(Now we are on a new road i.e. hormones, driving, hormones, teenager years, hormones…okay, harder in some ways.)
It is a pure joy to be able to keep these little ones especially knowing it helps parents flourish in their marriage. Who wouldn’t want to reconnect with their spouse with time away knowing their precious little ones are being taken care of with someone who actually dotes on them?
I love sending parents photos of their kids living it up. I pray it also helps them relish their trip a little more knowing their precious babies having a grand time (and they are!)
Being a friend that is able to bless others in this way is honestly one of the greatest gifts I feel we can give one another. What a true joy it was for us to be able to keep these blessings!
(Not to mention, it taught my children how to really bless someone.)
