There is no greater name than the name of Jesus.
When my kids and I were in a disastrous hail storm – thinking it was a tornado, a few years back, my youngest daughter pleaded “Jesus, Jesus, I think I am going to throw up, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.”
She cried out to our Savior in the middle of the storm.
We were all on the floor of the guest room under a blanket thinking the roof was going to fly off our home.
Looking back, it was pretty dramatic. Our roof had to be replaced. Our windows were blown out. Hail was so thick, it stayed on the ground for at least three days.
And whose name did we call out?
Jesus! The name above all names! The King of all kings.
Why?
Because He knows.
He is the great I Am.
Nothing gets past Him. He knew the storm and had the power to shut it down.
I love Jesus. I want my kids to know Him.
That is why…
I LOVE this book,
I AM – 40 Reasons to Trust God by Diane Stortz!
This book takes a name of God explains what it means and then gives a story in the Bible to show how the Lord fulfilled His Name. Simple yet so powerful.
As soon as our UPS man dropped off this book, my youngest dove in head first. Immediately, we read the story about God being the El Emeth (EL EH-met), God of Truth.
We talked about how God can ONLY tell the truth. He cannot lie.
My son apparently didn’t have a clue, that God could NOT lie, ever.
Things that we take for granted, take on a fresh perspective when shown through children’s eyes.
It reminded me to continue to talk about the “things of the Lord.” Just because we have gone over these same stories again and again, it is good for the soul to have little reminders, plus who know if it is us, the adults, who need the reminder?!
Would you like to have this book?!
Guess what?!

Jehovah-Jireh (the Lord will provide) and we have seen this name be true over and over again to us especially since we have been full-time missionaries too!

Hmmmm….. My favorite name…. of course now I’m totally forgetting the Hebrew for it, but I always like the story behind the God who Sees.

My favorite name of God is Immanuel- God With Us. It has always been so encouraging to me and now that I’ve gotten to teach my daughters of the names of God, I am seeing that they are finding comfort in this too.

El Shaddai – God Almighty. I was in junior high, I think, when I heard a mom and her high school daughter sing the song El Shaddai as a duet and it was so powerful, it stuck with me.
Sarah says
My favorite name of god is EL SHADDAI: “God Almighty,” “The Mighty One of Jacob” (Genesis 49:24; Psalm 132:2,5) because I find comfort and peace knowing that God has power over all things.
