My DIYplus5 Find: An Elephant

January 30, 2017 Lana

These past two weeks have been crazy busy!

We started a business re-doing furniture and reselling our found treasures alongside our five kids, plus homeschooling and my husband working a new full time job.  Honestly, I just wanted a way to sell things out of our garage so I can eventually park my car in it plus put back a fund for our future baby and children.  That will be a sweet day!

My husband and I make quite the team.  I come up with ideas and he makes them happen.  We are making old things new, with the idea that if it doesn’t sell, that we can use it in our home.  I love working with him!  90% of the time, we agree and if we don’t it is put off until one of us secedes or forgets the original plan.  (It helps that we both try to make the other one happy.)

Monday, my husband and I went on a date.  We found the cutest little restaurant in Tyler called Oliveto Italian Bistro.  Oh my word!  My mouth buds were exploding!  I honestly don’t like eating out as much as I used to because I feel so guilty about spending the money.  We are trying our hardest to repair our home quickly without going into deep debt.  But, I have a feeling we will go out here again.  Plus, the waitress gave us a menu so we can play with some of the recipes at home.  I love trying to recreate recipes, more healthier of course.

Afterwards, we stopped at Lowes.

And founds some deals.  But not without the normal chaos that ALWAYS seems to find us.

Mistake Entertaining Snafu #1.

We took a small car because we didn’t plan on making any purchases.  How do you fit a small elephant in the car?  One bite at a time…oh wait that is another joke.  You can’t fit this elephant in this car.  Trust me we tried.

Mistake  Entertaining Snafu #2.

We called our boys to bring us a bigger vehicle or the trailer after finding a deal and realized we held both set of keys in my purse.  Lesson learned:  We need to teach our boys how to hot wire our cars.  I’m sure there is a YouTube video of this somewhere.

Mistake  Entertaining Snafu #3.

So we decided to call my Aunt and Uncle who happened to be in town and had a truck.  Except they didn’t answer.

Mistake  Entertaining Snafu #4.

Then my husband’s phone went dead.

Mistake  Entertaining Snafu #5.

I had left my phone at home. Thankfully Lowe’s let us borrow theirs.

Mistake  Entertaining Snafu #5

Except I don’t know my Uncle or Aunt’s phone number.  I didn’t even know my kids’ phone number.  Or my home number.  This new age technology has me spoiled!  Who memorizes phone numbers anymore?

Thankfully, my husband knew our home number.  Then my kids were able to text my aunt – who was able to text my Uncle- who brought us his truck to load up this beauty but an elephant….before I was left stranded in Lowe’s parking lot with  for the night…

And that was our date night!

Deal at Lowes

Meet the elephant in the room – our living room to be exact!

Regularly priced over $300 – We got it for $50.  Not a bad price plus we found a brand new sink for $15.

We just need to find a piece of granite.

We haven’d decided if we will keep this for our downstairs bathroom or sell it.  I really like this better than what we have at the moment.  I love having a house that is constantly in progress.

Now to find our name for our new business…suggestions would be great!

Can’t wait to share our other new and used finds!

Blessings to you!  You are loved!
