Pizza for breakfast?! How often has this happened in your home?
Never?! Okay, how about cereal for dinner?
Now, I got your attention, eh?
Truth be known, I don’t usually eat cereal. It makes me fat and cranky. I would rather just eat dark chocolate, take a vitamin and guzzle a tall glass of milk. But, my family likes to eat it.
Not preparing healthy well-balanced meals are one of the many things that can cause moms guilt on a daily basis.
Can we just have a heart to heart for a second?
In the long run, your kids are not going to remember what they had for breakfast or dinner! They will remember your smile and knowing that you love them unconditionally!
The other day, I saw a mom who was torn about teaching their child a huge lesson because she felt she ought to teach them responsibility. I wanted to tell her to LET IT GO and become your child’s biggest cheerleader! I’m glad I didn’t! She knew her child better than I did and I was only thinking of my child, who would have been crushed at her punishment if it had come from me. I give my kids “grace and mercy” on a weekly basis but sometimes I need to be the enforcer of the house rules. Man, it is hard being in those predicaments, sometimes there are no easy answers just easy opinions.
Man, it is hard being in those predicaments, sometimes there are no easy answers just easy opinions. With that being said, I can’t tell you how to run your home. In fact, I won’t. When I was younger and had ALL the answers, I may have given my opinion. So sometimes it is probably wise just to just pray for wisdom in every situation.
I will say Mom Guilt is a real thing. Sometimes good and sometimes just by default.
A Plate of GRACE
Moms have one of the hardest jobs on earth. Sometimes all we need is just encouragement to keep pressing on and give yourself GRACE! The world can’t give that to us. Not true grace. In fact, as a Christian, I rarely ever received grace from even other church members when having low points in my life. I have had to look upon God’s Grace, which is infallible. He is so perfect and knows every one of my imperfections, even the ones tucked inside that no one else will ever see.
And you know what?! He still loves me unconditionally. He also loves you too!
So yes, I sometimes have and give pizza for breakfast! And I will gladly serve cereal for dinner. Not because I don’t care about my children, but because those meals scream GRACE to me. And there is NOTHING wrong with a plate of grace!
