5 long years…

June 2, 2009 Lana

…u to our Orange Tree, that we planted 5 or so years ago. This is the first fruit it has produced. Now, I know it is green. I am guessing it is supposed to be, since it does not need to be harvested until winter. Until then, I have been watering once a week, unless God decides to send showers, which does not happen too often. Although, at the time of writing this – I am hearing thunder in the distance. If it doesn’t taste good, we are still keeping…

Square Foot Gardening

…been looking for some pop-corn. Hmm…. Our tomatoes, more green peppers, radishes and cucumbers. So yummy! This is the squash…so pretty! I think this was a bell pepper or a tomatillo. I can’t remember…but can’t wait for it to produce fruit! We planted spineless okra. It is funny to me that some people I know, have never had it! Oh my – shut my mouth – I just love good fried okra! Next time you are at Cracker Barrel – order some! If you don’t like…

Every Saturday night, we have a healthy-junk-food-night with a movie. We’ve been doing this for a few months and we love it! We go to church come home and veg. Literally. We try to get “healthy” chips, dips, pita bread, deli meats and try something new. My kids and husband love this night. I try to get enough th…

Every-time I think I know something – I realize there is so much more to learn.

January 31, 2011 Lana

…ds of scriptures… from: Jesus cursing the tree when it didn’t produce good fruit (Matthew 21:18-20) to Jesus wept (John 11:35). I have a feeling this garden is going to produce some tears. Some of joy. Some not. I pray it will not be cursed to die. I was raised around agriculture most of my life. It has been in our family for a few generations. I remember on a few Saturdays, my Grandma taking me to the feed store (I still remember that horse feed…

Cabinets Refinished without sandpaper

Cabinets Refinished Without Sandpaper

…) But, totally worth every minute!   Okay really, I could have removed the dishes and hung up curtains but this is a “real” picture. Sorry, for the tiredness. (Is that even a word?) Want to know what we did? So easy!!! We didn’t have enough money for new cabinets or really did not want to darken the cabinets too much, so this was a perfect solution.   You will need: liquid sand paper (found at Hardware Store) Minwax® Gel Stain (Walnut Color) I do…
