I got to tell you these are worth the trouble! I needed a fast sweet for a meeting the other day. So, I browsed the blogs. I’m so glad that I found this recipe. Although, it is anything but healthy. (The apples might contribute to some nutrition. HA!)
The recipe is a winner and will go down in my faves…
2 granny smith apples or other firm apples
2 tubes refrigerator crescent rolls
1 cup butter (Don’t cheat here…real, is more Godly!)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 can of Mountain Dew – really! (Some people use juice. Be adventurous use Mountain Dew!)
cinnamon
Peel, core and slice each apple into 8 slices.
Unroll crescent rolls.
Roll an apple slice in each crescent roll and place in a buttered 8×13 inch pan.
I melt the butter and sugar in microwave then I barely stir. Texture should represent sand on the beach at low tide. Or high tide. Not really sure about that. Grainy.
Add vanilla; barely stir.
Pour butter mixture over your apple covered crescents.
Pour mountain dew on top and all around.
Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
Take a moment and inhale. That alone is highly caloric.
This is adapted from Heritage Schoolhouse and she got it from Pioneer Woman.
Blessings to you! You are loved!
