Tow Mater – The real one!

March 8, 2010 Lana

Road trips in our family are simply an adventure!  We never know what we are going to see or expect.
This past trip was no exception!
I couldn’t believe what we saw sitting on the side of some back road in Texas.  We turned our car around and went back just to get his picture.
Mater from Cars!
Yep, he was just parked in this parking lot waiting for us to take his picture. Mater!
Want to know the saddest part of getting to see Mater?  All my kids were asleep and didn’t get to see him.  They wouldn’t wake up.  I had some pretty tired out children from the Canton shopping experience.

It just made me smile then I smiled some more when I think of Tow Mater
.
Mater in Cars the movie – just blesses my heart.  He is a good friend to Lightening McQueen, the boastful and prideful race car.  (We love Cars – can you tell?)

When I see or hear Mater I think of a scripture…
Proverbs 18:24
A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

That scripture just fits that movie to a T!

Even when we feel that we have not a friend in the world, there is someone who desires to be in a relationship with us.  He is a relational God who knows our pain and our joys.

Sometimes when everyone else seems to let me down, I just have to go to the Rock –  He is the only one the can lift me up.

When I saw Mater on the side of the road…I was dealing with a few things in my life.  Although, they did not go away,  Mater just reminded me that I need to turn to my Friend, who has a plan for my life and it is a Good plan.

I hope and pray you will be encouraged in whatever you might be going through right now!  Sometimes encouragement might just be sitting on the side of the road – it is how you see it that makes the difference.
Blessings to you!!!  You are loved!!!

OH I love mater, and tell me is he not the perfect description of a Christian. Trying so hard to do it right, wanting so despereately to feel loved, doing crazy things like driving backwards at warp speed to get someone to realize our true potential..
