Top 10 observations because of our DIY Kitchen Remodel

Things just happen when a couple decides to tear up walls in their house.  Dust, eating out, staying up late and losing the tape measure continually to just name a few.  Of course these things happen in our own home.

Then we got out.  We escaped the mayhem.

Then it happened.lane ends

A person cannot really escape the DIY mentality once they have done a DIY project.

Here are the top 10 observations that are now noticed…in any store, church, funeral home, store, house and restaurant.

    1. We now notice how far apart recessed lighting is on any ceiling.
    2. We now notice the color of grout.
    3. We now notice paint drips and lines left from the paint roller.
    4. We now notice if someone was a good tape and floater.
    5. We now notice paint combinations.
    6. We now notice the high price some people pay when they don’t DIY.
    7. We now notice that when in the middle of a remodel, we could care less who comes over because of house is continually a mess.
    8. We now notice spacing between floor tiles.
    9. We now notice trim anywhere!
    10. We now look at everyone’s granite or countertops!

I wonder if there is a natural remedy to this DIY-observation syndrome.

What do you notice when you leave your DIY refuge aka home?

I notice light switch and outlet covers. Why have stark white covers on a dark wall? It is so easy to dip them in the paint and let air dry on a rack so they are completely without brush marks.

SO true! My husband’s best friend is a contractor and J works with him a lot. Now, anytime we go anywhere I hear about various construction elements and how much they cost!

Oh yes! I also notice how well someone does a mitered corner, things like floor trims and ceiling trims, how they incorporate the fridge and if a sink is over-mount or under-mount. It never goes away.

But the good news is, it’s really fun to show your DIY project to another DIYer because they truly appreciate all of those things you mentioned. Lisa~
