EASY Chili like Wendy’s

September 21, 2010 Lana

Okay…I have NO idea where I got this recipe and it probably doesn’t look anything like where I first got it anyway.  I like to tweak recipes…it is a gift I hope to pass on to my children.

I put recipes on my blog for my own personal use.  If I ever lose my most treasured recipe box…hopefully they will still be on my blog.  (Also, my hubs can find them…he would never go to someone else’s blog even with a direct link but he goes to mine. )My lil' firemanYou can make this chili as hot as you want…The recipe below is tame enough for the lil’ firemen in my life.

My EASY Chili – More like a Wendy’s type of Chili

  • 2 lbs of ground turkey
  • 29 oz can tomato sauce
  • 29 oz can kidney beans with juice
  • 29 oz can pinto beans with juice
  • 1 med chopped onion
  • 1 small can of diced chilies (mild)
  • 3 med tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 cups water

Brown meat.  Combine all.  Cook on low – stirring every 15 minutes for 2-3 hours.
Sometimes after I brown meat – I just stick it into the crock-pot and cook on low until dinner time about 4 hours.

How easy is that?
Is chili a staple meal in your home?

It is good on cornbread or tortilla chips topped with cheese!
I also use this recipe in my Once A Month Cooking – It is great even when frozen!

Blessings to you!!!  You are loved!!!

Chili is definitely a staple here. We love it with rice, in wraps with salsa and cheese over the top, and put into the oven for the cheese to melt. Yum! It’s a great one for me, because I freeze the chilli – even freeze the chilli and rice – all mixed up – ready to defrost and then wrap. Easy and Tasty!
Have to say – I *love* the photo. Gorgeous
