A Cheap but Beautiful Mardi Gras Craft

March 2, 2011 Lana

We don’t normally celebrate Mardi Gras…in fact this will be our first year.  Except that we won’t really be celebrating Mardi Gras aka Fat Tuesday.  And we are not Catholic.  But other than that…I love the colors and I love fleur-di-lis!  So, it is just like we are celebrating – but not.
I hope that wasn’t too confusing.
The colors are Purple, Gold and Green!
Purple reminds me of the royalty of Christ.  Green reminds me of life and living it abundantly.  And Gold reminds me of God’s Riches that only can come from Him.
Purple, Gold and Green
I went to the dollar store and bought $4.00 worth of purple, gold and green curly ribbon.
Mardi Gras Wreath
I then stapled it to an old straw wreath I had.  Then I added a mask.  It took less than 7 minutes.  Most of that time was finding the stapler.  I got the inspiration from here, a Birthday wreath.
At last, I added a mask.  A mask always reminds me of hiding something.  Like hiding God’s word in my heart…Psalm 119:11.
It really looks better in person!  It adds some shine and fun!
Blessings to you!  You are loved!

Oi. Just deleted my own comment. Talent…

Anyway, love your cute wreath. Looks fantastic. I think this is the perfect style for Mardi Gras and I may steal your idea next year 🙂

We haven’t ever decorated, but we do celebrate every year with King Cake.

    Thanks for linking back 🙂

I love the symbols you hid in your wreath! Beautiful!

May the LORD bless you and keep you; May the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May He turn His face toward you and give you peace. Feel free to leave a comment - we LOVE to hear your thoughts! ~Blessings to you!~ ~You are so loved!~ ~Lana (Like Banana)~
