We’ve been a traveling family for the past week and a half.
Our first stop after 7 hours of driving was at my brother’s house.

He took the kids to the river. The kids enjoyed being with their cousins and grandparents.
Then we started for the longer road trip up North. Our Grandma has tagged along with us. (I’m sure she is thinking, why me, at some points.)

We stopped at in Arkansas at the Crater of Diamonds State Park. This is the only diamond-producing site in the world where the public can search for diamonds and finders keepers. We basically paid $30. for all of us to dig for rocks. We got excited when my eldest found a clear rock. It turns out not to be a diamond but a piece of quartz. Oh, shucks! But, we got to keep a lot of pretty rocks that will go in my rock garden, that I will create when we get back home. (It is something that hopefully won’t die. Get it? Rock GARDEN? Ha! ha! ha!)
I was a little concerned with this guy. But, he was such a delight in the car and out.
We were not used to the cooler weather. It was so nice.
I love my husband, he is such a wonderful father.
We enjoyed the scenery so much. The trees were all changing and the mountains were gorgeous.
Of course, we also saw tons of road kill. I think at last count we saw 9 deer. (My hubby was thinking, what WASTE!) A perfect kill and they just leave it there. But, back to the prettier sights…
We spent the night in West Memphis, AR. Just East of Memphis, TN. Because we slept late, we didn’t pass Elvis’ mansion. (Maybe next time.) My kids don’t know “the king” anyway, just The KING of Kings.
The next morning we stopped at Dave Ramsey’s office in Brentwood, TN right outside of Nashville.
We were able to tour his site, which is in the middle of reconstruction, which made us feel right at home. We were finally able to meet our liasion, Lee Ann. She has been our help meet in leading our Financial Peace University at our church. Plus, we were able to see Dave Ramsey doing his radio show. It was a neat stop.
This was a barn we saw in Kentucky. I love old barns. I think they tell so many stories. I might have to do just an entry on barns one day.
There is so much to write about, I’ll write more soon!

The Crater of Diamonds State Park doesn’t look any different than it did when I was a kid back in…never mind…a few years ago! 😉
