Leaning Tower of South Padre Island?

December 29, 2008 Lana

Have you heard of the “Leaning Tower of South Padre Island”?

This morning I was reminded of this, as my son brought me his completed journal for the year. He let me read it and it was pretty simple. Some days he had anger, some days he had a lot of fun, but mostly he had “great days.”

Ocean Tower, in South Padre Island, Texas was supposed to be a 31-story high-rise that would contain 151 condominiums, four high-speed elevators, a fitness center and a spa. Instead, it sits vacant on the beach with a cracked foundation.

A few months ago, my family went and saw it. I have actually seen the Leaning Tower of Pisa, in Italy, many years ago. The tower in Pisa is very obvious. This however was not as apparent. It looked like any other construction site. To the naked eye, it looked like they were still building.

But, they were not. I don’t know what will happen to the building. I do know it will cost lots of money. Money that if someone had done it right the first time, it could have been used for other purposes. (Just a side note: if you are deciding to waste millions of dollars, please send me the check instead. I promise it will be used in great ways to benefit many, many people.)

As Christians, unlike Ocean’s Tower foundation, we should be strong because we are anchored to The Petra, the unmovable, unshakable Rock. I do not know about you but when trials come and they do come, the Lord gently reminds me, He is the Rock that is Higher than I.

As my son would write, that makes it a “great day” knowing that He is my Shelter and Refuge, a very present help in trouble.

Point of story: Make sure your foundation is strong before the storms!

This kind of stuff bugs me so much. What a waste. I will also be a better guardian of such money. Although, I’m more the type to bury it instead of multiplying it. Oh, well. You take it!

They built it on sand instead of rock? Not smart. At all.

    Great lesson!

May the LORD bless you and keep you; May the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May He turn His face toward you and give you peace. Feel free to leave a comment - we LOVE to hear your thoughts! ~Blessings to you!~ ~You are so loved!~ ~Lana (Like Banana)~
