Pasta Fruit Melody (Medley)

February 27, 2009 Lana

I like calling this Pasta Fruit “Melody” after my niece but it is medley. This makes a LOT! I’m always asked for the recipe. I don’t usually like fruit salads but I love this one. It is very refreshing – great for brunches and potlucks. I got this recipe from a friend of my hubby’s family many years ago.

1 (16 oz) bag spiral pasta
1 (16 oz) can pineapple chunks (save juice)
2 cups sliced strawberries (sliced long ways top to bottom)
1 1/2 cups white grapes (sliced in half long ways)
1 1/2 cups red grapes (sliced in half long ways)

Dressing:
2 cups REAL mayo
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup pineapple juice

Blend dressing ingredients together. Cook and drain pasta. Add a little more juice before serving.

This sounds like a really interesting combination — pasta and fruit. Who knew? Thanks for coming by and visiting my blog via the blog party, btw. It’s such fun to meet other bloggers. Now I’m going to keep checking out your recipes 🙂

I’ve never heard of a fruit salad made with pasta. I’ll definitely have to give this a try!

All I can say is – Really?? Pasta and fruit? That is the strangest combination I have seen in a long time. I’m now really wanting to try it for our next potluck!
