The other day this ground dove was on my roof. I love seeing birds, they are very interesting creatures.
As long as the bird was on the roof, the bird seemed safe. You see, down by the bird bath was a stray cat. The cat was hiding under my lantana, ready to pounce on it’s next victim. (He already had breakfast and left the evidence by the bird bath bath that morning.)
This ground dove seemed not to notice the cat. In fact, he just seemed content to sing on the roof like he was just praising the Lord, unaware of the dangers around him.
It reminds me of the scripture:
Psalm 23:4-6
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
As Christians, it is easy to focus on the cat (i.e. finances, taxes, housework, disobedient children or even weight) and not on the Lord. I encourage you just to be in His presence and truly worship Him. He will comfort and encourage you like no one else can!

Thank you, Lana! I needed the reminder today to worship in His Presence while ignoring all the “cats” in my life.
