New every morning…

new every morning  
Lately, we have been in “training mode” with our children.  It is like we put them to bed and they forget that they had been tucked in.  Two kids are one thing but FIVE is insane!
The are the usual excuses…

“Mom – Can I get a cup of water?”
”Dad – My leg hurts.”
”Mom – My bed is wet.”
”Dad – When I put my finger in my ear, it makes a noise.”
”Mom and Dad – I’m not sleepy.”

Really???  We have always had a pretty tight schedule for bedtime. 

8:00 – Every kid goes to bed and has 30 minutes of “reading” time
8:30 – LIGHTS OUT!!!

But, lately it is like they have forgot everything, we have taught them.
My hubby reminded me…”Well, it is a new morning.  They must have forgot since last night.”  By the way, hubs – that is NOT too encouraging! 
I was cleaning up my desk this morning and found this note.

Baby,
I love you.  I’m grateful to God for you.  I have truly found a “Good Thing.”
I pray that you are consumed with His presence today and overwhelmed with His mercy.  It is new this morning, you know.

Is that the sweetest thing??? 
Okay, this morning, it is encouraging! 
I started thinking, God has truly destined for me to be my kids’ Mom. 

One of my greatest sayings I have ever heard come out of my son’s mouth comes from a broken glass.  My middle son had broken one of my favorite cobalt drinking goblets.  I heard it happen from the other room.  Then before I could make it to the kitchen, my eldest said to him, “Mom won’t be mad, it was an accident.  She doesn’t get mad at things like that.” 

Wow!  I never realized that he could decipher when I lose my cool at certain things and not others.  That was a wake up call – well, that morning anyway!
How many times I have I “lost” it with my children when they needed to be shown mercy?  Uh…too many times!  I’m so thankful for God’s mercies!  They are NEW every morning!
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Blessings to you!!!  You are truly LOVED!!!

    How nice to hear that from your kids! Mine was when my daughter was talking to her dad – from whom I am divorced – and said to him, “mom always invites you to everything, you never invite her!” It wasn’t much, but it made me happy, all those time I gritted my teeth and invited him and his wife for my daughter. It was all so worth it!!

    I love what your child said about mom not getting mad about accidents. I’m not sure my daughter would say the same thing, but I’ll be working on it!

    I think we all need that reminder from time to time.. Lord knows this morning was a pushing it with me morning. But tomorrow is another day and the mercy and grace of God will never take you where he can’t walk you out of it..

    Gosh, that is so true. I forget many things as I sleep…like how loving and kind and patient my husband is and how grateful I am to be doing what I love. And sometimes I even forget to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. They will remember, especially when the alarm clock goes off the next morning!
