From the publisher:
Set in 1895, Making Waves, by debut author Lorna Seilstad is the first book in the Lake Manawa Summers series.
When spunky Marguerite Westing discovers that her family will summer at Lake Manawa in 1895, she couldn’t be more thrilled. It is the perfect way to escape her agonizingly boring suitor, Roger Gordon. It’s also where she stumbles upon two new loves: sailing, and sailing instructor Trip Andrews.
But this summer of fun turns to turmoil as her father’s gambling problems threaten to ruin the family forever. Will free-spirited Marguerite marry Roger to save her father’s name and fortune? Or will she follow her heart–even if it means abandoning the family she loves?
My Review:
First of all, I was in complete amazement with this book! I thought by the cover it was going to be a humorous book, thus why you should never judge a book by it’s cover.
I couldn’t put this book down and found myself finally putting it down at 3:33 a.m.
The author kept my attention through out the entire book. I learned about sailing and boats, which I was not expecting. The author definitely did her research.
I also appreciated the morals of the story. This is one book that would be good to keep on hand for my own daughters when they get older. It taught on gambling, lying, being proper, enjoying life and waiting on God’s best.
I would definitely not hesitate in recommending this book! I would love to read more of this series in the future.
Blessings to you! You are loved!
