The night my now hubs proposed to me there was a heat lightning
storm – they are common in Texas. It was gorgeous – no rain – no thunder – just tons and tons of lightning.

We when came back into Texas not long ago – we drove into a storm. Right now I would like to apologize to my wonderful photography teacher. These not so good photos are no reflection of her teaching. I was wishing for an instant refresher of photography 101 at the time. I simply forgot how to use my settings (it could have had something to do with being in the car for 2 days with 5 kids.)
There were probably a million bolts a minute and I couldn’t catch any of them. Well, except the ones down here – which aren’t really what God intended for them to look like – trust me, they were simply remarkable! My hubs did finally stop the car so I could get a look. Unbelievable how they could strike. This storm had to last over 2 hours. One after another… My hubs assured me we were safe in our car. All I’m saying – is that I have felt much safer in my life. The last one! It branched off…crazy beautiful!
I do not understand lightning. It comes and goes in a flash. It lights up the darkest sky.
I was always told when I was a child, that thunder was when God was bowling – mostly to keep me from being scared. Yet, thunder isn’t dangerous – lightning would be culprit.
Isn’t it amazing how beautiful it is but if touched could make you die or give you a late 1980’s hairstyle?
Just makes me wonder…what was God thinking – dangerous and beautiful?
What do you think?
Blessings to you! You are loved!

What beautiful pictures. We’ve been having thunder storms here too. I never tire of sitting on the porch and taking in the show! My 2yo sat on my lap for almost 30 minutes the other evening, just watching! 🙂

Beautiful, the only way I have ever been able to capture lightning is by video or consecutive shots that continue one after the other. Although if you check out my Youtube account I have a video of it lightning in the midst of a snow storm.. talk about weird
