Our Bean Tepees are coming along nicely! I can’t remember if I should thin the beans or not. I detest throwing away a perfectly good plant – I know it will choke the other one if it is not pruned – I just don’t like doing it. The Sunflower Garden
I can hardly wait for these beauties to arise! It is going to be so much fun to take pictures of all the kids in front of them. This is the corn box.
Have you ever heard the saying “If you listen, you can hear corn grow at night?” Seriously, I don’t know where I heard that – I may have made it up. But, it makes for a good quiet walk with the children or hubby at night. Oh radishes we will have! We thought the neighborhood stray cat dug up our radishes and we planted more. Apparently, they were just slow growers and now we are going to have lots of radishes. Got any radish recipes? Cukes! The Burpless Cucumber to be exact! Oh, how exciting! (The Cucumber not the burps!) I think this is the squash. I can’t remember. Oh yummy!
Have you started your garden yet?
I still have one bed that is half empty and need to fill it. I’m just hoping I’m not too late – our temps have been in the low 90’s – the joy of Texas Spring.
Blessings to you! You are loved!

All the new growth in your garden looks wonderful. There is just something special about the plants bursting forth from the ground. Each plant always seems like a gift from God and a reason to celebrate!!!

I am jealous of anyone even planting, let alone growing things. We won’t get out of plant killing night freezes until June. I always look forward to summer so much.

Remember, you can garnish by making radish roses, etc. Okra grows well in the heat, in fact they love it! Then get ready for the ants as they come marching in. Be sure to teach the kiddos how to weed the garden so they can help Grandma when they come to my house. It’s looking great, yall are doing a wonderful job country girl! Your grandma had to water mine today it has been so windy and dry here. Love to all!

Oh, on a totally unrelated subject…the puppy your hubby is holding in the photos at the top of the page…. please tell (I may have missed the story of this gorgeous little mutt, because I had a crazy, busy month or two)

Oh, I’m so jealous (Am I allowed to be jealous?) No. I guess not. I ‘ve planted some seed this week and we’ll hope to get the seedlings outside in about 4-5 weeks, but temperatures in the 90s…. in the 90’s?! No hope of that even in the height of our summer 🙁 so our poor plants are always struggling. But still, I love it. I love taking a wander through our plot. It’s so peaceful…. can’t wait!

My gardening book says that pole beans should be planted 4 plants/hill. The 3 plants surrounding each pole (um, if all 3 seeds planted sprouted) should be fine and shouldn’t need to be thinned out. I’ll look elsewhere to see what I can find and will report back to you tomorrow afternoon.
