I understand the rest of the country is still experiencing cool weather – ours is gone.
Today, in the shade, my thermometer read 103 degrees.
I love my air conditioner. I don’t like my curling iron.
Not sure why I thought I should share that. Do you use a curling iron? Sorry, this post is about gardening.
BUT – I really really love my air conditioner. (That is worth repeating!)
We have been spending a lot of time outside. (Before the real heat hits!) And we have had some pretty interesting visitors. These odd birds showed up on our rooftops a few weeks ago. We couldn’t figure out if they were geese, ducks or if it was a new species that would put our roof on the map.
It turns out they were ducks. We think they are Black-bellied Whistling-ducks.I have to say – since we have planted our garden so much wildlife has showed up. It may have already been there – we just didn’t pay attention.
Now the garden tour:
But…haven’t. We have no excuse. Well, we do. But, we just haven’t and probably won’t.
(I don’t allow my children to use two negatives in a sentence. Only I can. It makes me feel rebellious.)Again, the ducks! They really like us!Our beautiful Squash!Seriously, I can’t wait to eat this sautéed with butter! YUM!The BIG tomatoes are coming in!We let the chicks take a short walk in the garden. They were so funny. I love my husband! That is him – with the chicks. He treats me like a Queen. Not a chick. We have had some of these…nothing tastes better than fresh tomatoes. We haven’t had any more “worm” issues. This is the Burpless Cucumber. Doesn’t it look like a dancer or someone praising the Lord? Our Squash Bed…I just love their leaves! The Pepper Garden – Bell Peppers and Jalapeños.Our Corn in the Raised GardenA lil’ Ladybug (They are beneficial bugs! Plus, so pretty!)Tomatillo! Can’t wait to make some Mama Ninfa’s green sauce! These are growing fast! But, the bugs really love them so we have to keep a sharp eye on them.
