My son has had his corn seeds for a few years. He bought them with his own money.
Years ago, we planted it – it came up but didn’t have any corn. I thought the boy was going to go into a depression.
We found out later – corn is a fertile type of plant and needs to be planted in rows.
A friend of ours, who is a Professional “corn” Farmer – told us how to do this “Corn Box”.
Every-day my eldest goes out to “weed” his corn box. He picks the bugs off and feeds them to the chickens. He even talks to his corn.
The other kids whine “Mommmn, Big Brother keeps calling it “his” corn.” My response, “Well, he’ll gladly let you weed it.”
No more whining – problem solved. Wished it worked with my laundry problem…God, Eve was the one who sinned…why do I have to do laundry?!? I know…I could just quit wearing clothes….did I just type that?
No worries…I’ll keep doing laundry!
Back to Our garden experience…and some benefits!
- The way the tomatoes taste straight off the vine. HUGE difference from the store!
- The way my kids feel the freedom to pick the veggies and we have them for dinner (the same night).
- The way the entire family has worked as a team – from making the boards, buying the dirt, mixing the dirt, planting, watering (man – our water bill has gone up), picking sucker plants, weeding, and eating new things together.
- We even get to bless neighbors and friends with extra produce. Our neighbors love getting zucchini bread and the kids love delivering it! What a true blessing to bless others!
Blessings to you! You are loved!
