I love homeschooling. I remember when I was a little girl, I’d set up my imaginary classroom and teach my imaginary students. We would learn about all sorts of stuff. I even set up a “science lab” in my tiny bedroom. We learned how wet bread molds after three days in the dark. I constantly was stealing “trash” to make fun projects. (Loved making tornadoes with an empty 2 liter coke bottle.) In high school, I changed my tune. I didn’t want to be a teacher. I still was in the club Future Teacher’s of America club and even got a scholarship from it. But, I was more interested in the Medical field. After I graduated I started working at a nearby hospital that was right down the street from our community college. I was in love with OB unit. I got to see C-sections, live births, and hysterectomies. I was thrilled to learn…and got paid to do it. Plus, I was attending the local college until I decided what I wanted to do exactly. Then I signed up to become a sonographer. I was accepted in the program and was thrilled to start my classes. Things happened – I met a cute Youth Pastor and decided he meant more to me than a part-time job. We married and started our family. I look back and don’t regret leaving my “education” for “family.” I learned valuable lessons during that time.
