The Promise by Dan Walsh and Gary Smalley Book Review
From the publisher:
For the last five months, Tom Anderson has been without a job, a fact he’s been hiding from his wife Jean–and everyone else. He leaves each morning, pretending nothing has changed, and spends his disheartening day rotating through coffee shops and the library, using their wifi to search job listings online. The stress of keeping this secret is beginning to put serious strain on his marriage.
But Tom’s not the only one hiding something. Jean Anderson has a secret of her own–one that will seriously complicate their situation. Will the promises they made on their wedding day hold firm?
My Review:
This book is interesting. It makes me feel like I was looking into someone’s very dramatic life who was in therapy.
Although, I could understand that the book was fiction, it seemed it was more like a book full of life lessons. In some parts it did pull at the heart strings.
This book was not my favorite however. It grated at my nerves for some reason. The characters just were not believable and part of the problem was the main character, Tom. I felt that the authors turn to a scapegoat for the reasons he acts a certain way. Plus, some of the little stories in the book were just out of place without a finish.
It was a book that did offer some type of challenge to the readers except that is was a downfall in this book as well, made it into more of a lesson instead of fiction entertainment.
Blessings to you! You are loved!
