REAL life has taken over, lately. I love being part of HIS plan.
I’ve been coaching Volleyball. It has been amazing seeing these young ladies grow! Our main focus this year has been “Relationships.” Even when the season ends, relationships will still stand. Personally, I love having true friends that I can call day or night. I have plenty that I can call during the day but only a few that I would call at midnight.
We set up a time on Saturday to go see the War Room. Have you seen it?
It amazed me that it is also about “mentoring” and relationships. I love that our teams were able to see it! I pray that it left an eternal impression on their hearts.
My heart has always wanted to “mentor” or guide younger ladies to have a relationship with the Lord. I have a few “mentors” that have led me to the higher road on more than one occasion.
It started when I was in 1st grade. Our pastor’s wife would tell me about missionaries in South America. I asked questions and showed interest in this lady’s life. I can honestly say that is when I wanted to become a missionary. Even when I was in high school, we continued to have a relationship – even though her husband was no longer my pastor.
In fifth grade, another pastor’s wife led me in a Bible study after school. I would ride the school bus to her house and we would learn what it meant to be a part of the body of Christ. I remember going to her house the day the Challenger exploded. We prayed for those families. It left a lasting memory.
After I got married, another type of mentor entered my life. One that would show me how to become a Godly wife and Mom. These type of mentors were far harder to find, thankfully the Lord just placed them in my life. I know friends who never had the opportunity to have these type of ladies in their lives. How sad for them.
These mentors probably didn’t have “time” for my life. They probably didn’t always “want” to deal with my issues. They probably didn’t want to put more “energy” into someone who didn’t live in their house.
They probably didn’t realize that I would also turn into them.
I now make time for others. I want to deal with others so they can grow to be like Jesus. I have no energy except the thrill that comes from when someone turns from their former life only to be pointed to the One who gives them true life.
“Mentors can be amazing.”
They don’t have to be pastor’s wives. They can be anyone who wants to leave an imparting gift to God’s child.
I’ve been following on Facebook, the stories and reports about The View television show and their remarks about nursing. The entire time I have thought, wow, what a missed opportunity. These ladies from the View have had a chance to change the world, for the better. A captive audience. Instead, their show is known for either rude remarks, snide humor, and nothing that would inspire others to GREAT works. (They might show inspiration sometimes, but that is NOT what they are known for.)
The question that has been haunting me for sometime, “Am I going to be known for pointing others to Christ, an inspiration or am I going to be known as rude, bad humor and a nothing that didn’t change HIStory?”
Hmm…
Selah!
Blessings to you! You are loved!
