Not my finest moment…

January 11, 2011 Lana

…e out, one day. I want them to be able to come back home and know that our home is a refuge! A refuge that is safe. A refuge that is homey. A refuge that is peaceful. A refuge that they could leave dirty dishes and it would cause me to smile because we had food to eat. A refuge they can feel safe doing what they want to do in it without pressure from me. Let me be clear…I’m not going to let my home become something that needs an intervention with…

Our Amish Story

September 8, 2011 Lana

…stayed and were ministered to for over three hours. We got to go into his home and meet his family. It was surreal. Our dog even fell in love with this family. They also had tons of chickens. We learned some of their ways. They probably thought we were aliens – all the questions we asked. They didn’t mind. We felt like we were at home. They gave us a banana tree and a fig tree. This is the Burpless Cucumber. Doesn’t it look like a dancer or someone praisin…

Then I began to put myself in the place of this young man. The Pharisees, who were no doubt his mentors and spiritual leaders his entire li…

Ragin’ Cajun Party

March 7, 2011 Lana

…e broiled the shrimp broil in… This is what I usually use…I thought it was big at 16 quarts. This is the difference…the bigger is 30 quarts. You can’t have a cajun party without beignets. I had never made these before…I’m still perfecting it – I assure you. This was the Margarita Cake…was is the operative word. I forgot to take a picture of the other cake…but trust me – delicious! I had the last piece for breakfast! In our house, right before a pa…
