I love the body of Christ! I think it is so interesting how the Lord put us on the earth to work together.
I believe there are 3 types of Spiritual Gifts. I am no means a Bible scholar (meaning I do not have years of Hebrew and Greek under my belt) but I can read.
In I Corinthians 12 : 4 – 6 (KJV) it talks about these gifts.
4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
I would like to focus on verse four. The word gifts here, is from the Greek word charisma. Someone once described it as our driving force. Like a motor on a vehicle, this is what motivates all that we are and all that we do. Thus, they are also called Motivational Gifts.
These gifts are listed in Romans 12:6b-8.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,
let us use them:
if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; span>
7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering;
he who teaches, in teaching;
8 he who exhorts, in exhortation;
he who gives, with liberality;
he who leads, with diligence;
he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
A Prophet is one who receives and communicates the will of God.
A Server is one who loves to serve others in practical ways with the love of Christ.
A Teacher is one who loves to research and communicate the truth of God’s Word.
An Exhorter is one who loves to encourage others to live a victorious Christian life.
A Giver is one who loves to give time, talent, energy and finances to support others and advance the gospel.
A Leader is one who loves to co-coordinate, facilitate, organize or lead others in Christian work.
A Carer is one who shows compassion, love and care to those in need.
When I look at these, it makes it so much easier to get along with my Christian friends and family. We are made different on purpose! I love that!
My sister in Christ, might be a hand whereas I’m the leg. We are both needed to function properly. Did I mention I love that?
When my husband and I both discovered our spiritual gifts, our entire focus shifted. We compliment each other according to God’s Word.
There are so many resources on this subject. Some of my faves are Discover Your God Given Gifts by Don and Katie Fortune and How to Understand Spiritual Gifts by the Institute in Basic Life Principles.
I would encourage any Christian who does not know their spiritual gift to research this out. It is not only fun but so encouraging to know why you may feel a different way than those around you.
What is your gift?
