Kid’s Fort

September 17, 2009 Lana

We made a Kids Fort

Okay, back in Spring we started on this Fort/Playhouse. Then it got HOT!!! The hottest summer in history. Every day, we were over the 100 degree mark. (Have I ever mentioned I don’t like the heat?)

Anyway, the project came to a halt.
This past weekend we picked it up again because it was cool, like the low 90’s. Yeah!!!

Kids Fort made with old fence
Excuse my non-landscaping – but everything I had planted died this year do to NO rain for 3 months. However, our sprinkler system is up and running so next year…I can’t wait!!!

Make your own Kid's Fort

I hung up 2 plants that hopefully my daughters will remember to water. They wanted some of their own…I like them learning how to take care of things.

Kid's Fort Sandbox or Rock Pit

Remember the rock? Well, we put some in here for a rock pit. My son loves it. My hubby added 2 little benches for him to sit on as he plays.

Kids Fort benches

He also added another bench here. Perfect for doing math homework. My boys have done their work out here all week.
DIY Kids Fort
Handles and the wheel were also added.
Not bad with just some extra fence we had laying around.  Talk about re-invented!!!

We also added some pavers that lead to the fort. I love them! Makes my outside seem more organized in some fashion!
Blessings to you!  You are loved!

So awesome, my kids would go crazy. My hubby is pretty handy with many things, but I don’t know that he could have done something like that! Although I did just get a brand new deck and pool landing this year, so now complaints! I’m pretty thankful for that! 🙂

    HAPPY, HAPPY SITS Day.

Wow, your husband is definitely talented! The fort looks great and, when I’m lucky enough to be a mommy, I’m definitely going to use the idea of doing homework outside. That sound really nice! 🙂

LIsten now, I know you are going to be POUNDED by emails today….more comments than you ever thought possible. and I KNOW you wont get back to them all…that’s okay…I’m still trying from SEPTEMBER.

But please, please, please, try to answer me.

    How much did this cost????

I’m begging my DH to make us one and this is PERFECT. But he’s sure it will take more time and money than we want. I just need some proof….

Your husband reminds me so much of my dad who was always making things for us kids too and for my mom. He loved working with wood and cardboard. Never did get a treehouse or fort though, always thought it would be a fun thing to have.

Congrats on your SITS day and I’m thankful for my wonderful, Godly parents! Miss them so much!

How insanely awesome for the kids!!

In my last home, I had a contractor make this huge tall swing for my then 1 yr old son. I ’bout died when I had to leave it behind when I moved.

Moral of my story?!? Don’t ever move. You’re all set for the grandkids now too. LOL!!

    Thanks for joining the party!

That is so awesome! We barely have a backyard, so we head to the park to play. I do love that we back to trees, so it was a good trade off.

I love the fort! My husband built one 18 years ago, but it didn’t make it in the move. He’s promised another one. Boys need a fort! No matter what age! Yours is marvelous!

My dudes would be SO jealous, especially #2. He has been asking for a “backyard park” for ages. He doesn’t understand that we live on a hill and would have to get all kinds of people in here to basically redesign our entire yard, and those people would want a ton of money to do that, so no backyard park for us. But, maybe we can get a new toilet:). Stopped over from SITS.

May the LORD bless you and keep you; May the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May He turn His face toward you and give you peace. Feel free to leave a comment - we LOVE to hear your thoughts! ~Blessings to you!~ ~You are so loved!~ ~Lana (Like Banana)~
