We are in re-modeling mode. During this mode – we have to do things on a shoe-string budget. Not that we are doing things unsafe or cutting corners that might bring danger to others but sometimes we have do without trim for the time being.
(I really like trim. Trim changes things instantly. Trim can be expensive. Trim is NOT in our budget….yet.)
We went to Lowes on Saturday. My hubby was getting the stuff to finish our drywall and my daughter and I went to find the Paint. (Yes, I meant that to be a capital P. I love Paint.)
I picked out the color that I showed you here. But, I couldn’t remember what finish I wanted. So, I had to wait for my hubby to join us. He finally made it and we picked out eggshell. (I hope it works.)
While we were waiting – I was watching people. The manager at the paint took off his smock and decided to check out. I happened to catch a look at his paint can before he set it on the counter. It said $.50. This was a $28.00 can.
I asked the precious girl who was waiting on me – did that say what I think it did? She said, “Yes.” “We had some new employees that mixed up some paint and with the wrong code and the main manager just said get rid of ALL of it for $.50.”
Let me spell it out ….. FIFTY CENTS for Paint – that I need!
I asked “More??? Do you have any MORE???” She said, “Yes, I have plenty.” I’m thinking why didn’t you tell me before I picked out my paint. I took all 4 cans that were hidden behind the counter. (I couldn’t even see them. You have not because you ask not kept ringing in my ears.) She even mixed them to the colors I wanted.
A light pink (Pink Champagne) for the girls room. = $.50
A dark blue (Calvary) for the boys room. = $.50
A taupe (Sautéed Mushroom) for Master bedroom. = $.50
A deep yellow (Brass Mesh) for the playroom = $.50
and then the (Cider Toddy) for office = $21.95
(It was on sale too.)
Total= $23.95 Savings = $85.80
I truly had tears in my eyes at the counter. The girl knew she had made my day! I think she was in tears too. Who knew paint could bring someone to tears?
I hope you find a deal this week! May the Lord direct your steps to His Glory!
Blessings to you! You are loved!!!

This post brought tears to my eyes as I had a very similar thing happen to me when I bought my house and started to fix it up. I actually bought three gallons of paint got them home and they were AWFUL. I took them back to Home Depot, got my 75.00 back and was headed over to paint dept. when I spied four gallons of Ralph Lauren paint in “Paprika”, I said to the girl at the counter, “Now this is what my paint was supposed to look like”. She told me that they were returns and I could purchase them for three dollars each. $100.00 worth of paint for $12.00. Saving me 88.00! God is good and he wants us to feather our nests!

Yay for you, God’s goodness is evident in all things! I learned this little tip about looking for discounted paint awhile back. We have a house that we are getting ready to rent or sell & needed to do some re-painting. I purchased
3 gallons of paint at Lowe’s for less than $15, so I totally understand your excitement and thankfullness!! Have a blessed week!

I think I see a trip to LOWES in my future. 🙂 Just kidding.
There’s TRUELY NOTHING like getting something you were going to buy anyway on sale—-but getting $28.00 paint for $.50 falls into the “Miracle from God” catagory.
Isn’t God good!

I so understand how paint can bring you to tears. I’m pregnant with my second baby (who we get to finally meet in 11 days!) We couldn’t really afford crib bedding we just bought a house, and we lived in a 5th wheel trailer with the first and he didn’t have a crib. Crib bedding is at least $100 for the cheapest set. Well I couldn’t sleep on night and was browsing Craigslist (♥ Craigslist) and found a very cute, vintage looking crib set that was just what I had envisioned being in her room. Wendy Bellissimo Vintage Tea Berry… Bed skirt, 3 sheets, 2 changing pad covers, a window valence, crib bumpers, pillow, blanket, picture and a BRAND new looking diaper bag. For $50. I emailed the girl selling it and asked if she still had it, and started trying to make arrangements to pick it up. She lived about 40 minutes away, but the next day just happened to be going to a bbq in my town. What?! When we picked the set up, she said that she had it up for sale a year ago and no one emailed her so she put it back into storage and that it just must have been meant to be. I climbed into the truck, started crying and just thanked God for letting me be so blessed. WOW that was long… Yes paint can be a gift from God. -Jami
