Can I say I wish I had taken a picture? This was so yummy!!!
I made it on a whim. Is that really a word – whim???
I used what I had…that is my mantra!
3 ingredients – that is it! Oh, you will make friends with this one…
Okay – are you ready???
Strawberry-Cherry Dump Cake
- 1 box of strawberry cake mix
- 1 can of Cherry pie filling
- 1 stick of butter
Yep, that is it my friends.
Open the can of pie filling and pour into 9 x 11 glass dish. (I sprayed my dish with Butter-flavored Pam for easy clean-up.)
Open the box of the cake mix and pour the cake mix on top of the pie filling.
{Do NOT make the cake mix by the instructions. You want it to be in it’s powdered state.}
Cut the stick of butter into slabs and put on top of the powder.
Do NOT mix anything – you are just dumping it, thus the name!
Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
This is how you make friends!!!
Well, not really – but this is how you could make your enemies – Large. Okay, I need to stop myself!!!
Disclaimer: Food is not meant to help you make friends – you make friends by being friendly!
However, if you find yourself being selfish – this cake may help you! Just saying…
Blessings to you!!! You are loved!!!

Sounds yummy. I’ll have to give it a try sometime. Then I’ll come back and tell you how it turned out 😉

Hi! I just found your blog, but I just have to tell you that my family used to do something similar. When I was a little girl, mom & dad took us camping. Dad would lather up a cast-iron Dutch Oven with butter, dump in 1-2 big cans of sliced peaches {juices and all}, and top with the yellow cake mix and slices of butter. Dad would then place the Dutch Oven into hot ashes/coals and place some on top of it. It was delicious! Now we usually bake this in the oven to bring back wonderful childhood memories!

That sounds pretty good! I use a similar method with cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple (leave the juice in), a yellow cake mix and a stick of butter. 60 minutes at 350. 🙂

Sounds delicious. My dad makes a version of this with pineapple & blueberry filling and yellow cake mix. I’ll have to pass this one along to him!

Thanks for posting this, my mom use to make dump cakes for a desert on Saturdays to allow us five kids to “help”. I credit this experience to my love of cooking, great times were had in Momma’s kitchen and even greater memories were created.
I am going to try this recipe with my son, the reluctant teenager. He is getting into cooking, this should be perfect for him to try, as well as make some memories in his Momma’s kitchen.

It is like we have the same cookbook. First the sweet pot. now this dumpcake. I have made it for many years. I enjoy blueberry filling with it too. And we add a can of crushed pineapple on top of the filling.

Yum! I’ve made a dump cake, but not these flavors- they sound delicious.
LOL @ making your enemies large.
I remember when someone told me that I needed to be the bigger person when it came to dealing with an annoying co-worked and I pouted: have you seen her a**? I don’t WANT to be bigger than she is!
