Army Birthday Party

December 1, 2009 Lana

Well, this may have been the best party yet, according to my 9 year old.
He wants to do it again next year.

My boys wanted an ARMY TANK cake.
[wpsr_pinterest]
I’m NOT a cake decorator.  My sister is the cake decorator.
My sister lives out of town so I had to do it.

They wanted a STRAWBERRY army tank.
I asked, “Boys, you want a pink cake?”
They replied, “Yes, we love strawberry.”
So – on the inside of the cake is pink.

We were able to get army water bottles from the United States Army.
Those were so nice to be able to give away plus each child had a drinking cup.
Also, we made marshmallow guns for everyone.  The guns are on the right side of the picture and the water bottle is on the left.
God also blessed us with absolutely beautiful Spring-like weather in November for the party.
The adults ended up enjoying the marshmallow guns more than the kids.
My boys, husband and John Deere Paw Paw put all of them together the day before the party.
WHAT FUN!!!

The kids played tug of war…
Left side Right Side
Then we had a impromptu water balloon fight.  (This was my hubs fave.)

My parents came in for the occasion.
Water balloons are good for stress management.

Lil’ Princess even gets her John Deere Grandpa.
It truly was a memorable party.
My boys truly enjoyed all the presents as well.
Since we have been giving commissions to them,
they understand how powerful a few dollars are and
so they were even more appreciative for the gifts than ever before.
(That makes a parent’s heart even skip a beat with joy.)
Boys Army Party
My boys did get to meet a true Army officer that gladly gave them some Army supplies for the party.
What an honor!
My boys have a prayer wall and pray for soldiers that are fighting in wars.
The invitation which I copied and tweaked from a party site and then another blog.
Army: Mission Project (last name) Party
Your secret mission,
should you choose to accept it,
is to rendezvous with an elite force of GI (Last Name) to celebrate:
PVT Baby Boy’s Name 11th Birthday
And
PVT Blonde Baby Boy’s Name 9th Birthday
Please report: Saturday, November 28th, 2009
From: 1400 – 1600 hours
(2:00- 4:00 p.m. Civilian Hours)
AT: Secret (Last Name) Military Base
(Classified directions given when you RSVP
to Recruiting Officer Lana by November 20th
at phone number or by email)
The soldiers will be going through “Boot Camp”,
so they will be crawling on grass and probably will be hit by grenades during their missions.
Have them wear any army colors or camo clothes if you can and be prepared to be dirty.
Feel free to bring a change of clothes.
I sent them out to their friends by Facebook.
I loved that all the people on the guest list, that my kids had made, had Facebook accounts.
How cool is that?
I also liked that I hid the location until they RSVP’d.  I will never give out the location again until they tell me if they can come.
My kids laid down to watch a movie that night.  We looked over and this is what we saw…EXHAUSTION!

Blessings to you!  You are loved!!!
This was Tackle it Tuesday Project, plus the whole month of November project.

What a fantastic idea!! It looked like you had a perfect day with perfect weather. My husband is a captain the Army Reserves so if you ever need more supplies, just let me know. As Family Readiness Group leader, I can get my hands onto all sorts of fun things! And it’s good for recruiting. 😉 If your boys are interested in military support, you should check out http://www.militarymissionsonline.com. We’re locally based organization that focuses on care package donations, assembly and shipment to troops in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan. Although we’re here in Lex, KY, you can almost always find a local org VERY similar. And we have a care package suggestion list on the site that makes it easier to shop. Thanks for posting – I’m making a mental note of that cake for my husband’s 42nd!
