The Homecoming by Dan Walsh
ISBN: 978-0-8007-3389-6
Available June 2010; $14.99

From the Publisher:

The Homecoming is Walsh’s second book, which brings readers back to the reunited Collins family. No sooner is Shawn home from the fighting in Europe than he is called upon to serve his country in another way–as a speaker on the war bond tour. While other men might jump at the chance to travel around the country with attractive Hollywood starlets, Shawn just wants to stay home with Patrick. When Shawn taps Katherine Townsend to be Patrick’s nanny while he’s on the road, he has no idea that she will be the key to his future happiness and the mending of his heart.

My Review:

When I think of a good book, I think of one that I want to crawl up into bed with and just read all day long.  This is one of those books.  It kept my attention and brought an ending that would have made any romantic glad they kept reading.

I would recommend this book to “mature” readers only, due to some of the war details.  It was a really easy story to follow even though I had not read the first novel.

Historical fiction always seems to teach me and to show me things I may have not realized had really happened.  This book brings WWII into a new light.  It shows just some of the effects of the war on just regular people.  I am always amazed how much I learn from historical fiction.  It just puts a new light on something that really happened.

The testimonies of God’s Goodness and of His Steadfastness were apparent throughout the book.  I appreciate how the author answered hard questions i.e. why would God take away a spouse and if God is all “good” – why would He allow that?

This would be a great book to take on vacation or to read on a lazy rainy day!

Blessings to you!  You are loved!

“Available June 2010 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.”
