After 3 weeks with no children…they are back!
They had turned a different color – tan!
Oh – how I missed them!
My Princesses! I can’t wait to have some girl time!
We went out to eat for Father’s Day. We had to tell them about our family dog. While they were gone to visit their John Deere Grandparents, we had our beloved dog, Mandy, put to sleep.
We didn’t think about the exact words we should have used to tell our children about her. Hindsight is 20/20.
“Being put asleep” does not mean the same
to an 11 year old and a 6 year old. Let’s just say…all dogs go to Heaven in our house.
She was so old and we think she had cancer. She had a couple of tumors and had started to limp. We just couldn’t handle having her in any pain.
It was a decision that was pondered on for a very long time. Honestly, I had never had a connection with any animal and thought I had kept the distance with this dog as well. But, when we took her – I cried like my children did at the steakhouse.
She was a family member. She came to us before my second daughter had been born. That was like 6 years ago.
This was our last Christmas picture…she will be missed.
(She needed to be groomed in both pictures.)
Mandy was the only dog that we knew, that would smile when she was loved on. She was a true blessing to our home. We are not sure when or if we are going to get another one. Only time will tell.
Blessings to you! You are loved!

Oh boy, I sympathise. I really do. We had a dog growing up, and our kids are desperate to have one in our home. So far, I’ve not relented, and part of the reason is knowing that one day…..well, he’ll ‘be put to sleep’, and they’ll probably all be married at the time, and I’ll be left here to ball my eyes out alone!! Well, dear hubbie will be with me.
Oh dear, you can tell I’ve thought all this through, can’t you!
Anyway, sympathies to you all
Love, Anne, the dog-lover in Scotland, who had the most gorgeous Shetland Collie growing up, and who was married and had child #1 when she died, and my poor Mum had to cope with the death whilst we wandered on with our lives
Oh dear!

Oh Lana…I’m so sorry about Mandy. It’s hard when a loved member of the family(literally)is no more….my Hubby still misses his good 4 legged buddy Fiona even though she died over 10 years ago.
Thinking about all of you….
