Brighton Joy |
She is Yellow! She is a lab! She is ours!
This past August, we had to put down our beloved schnauzer, Mandy. We had her longer than our 2 younger children.
Most nights our kids would be so sad for her. My hubby wanted to wait until our remodel was done to get another one. I didn’t really want another one.
But, then a precious friend posted this doll on facebook and said she was looking for a good home. Well, I fell in love!
First of all, we live about 8 hours away from her. Second, the remodel. Third – Brighton is going to be a HUGE dog…we were used to a minature schnauzer.
Well, I called my Mom to see if she could go and get her until we could make the long trek. She told me to talk to my step-dad. He said “Sure!” Then I called my hubs.
Backtrack just a second. We were waiting to hear about a job transfer. My hubs had flown to Dallas for a second interview and we waiting to hear if we were moving to North-East Texas. He was in the top 5 candidates. We prayed if God did not want us to have the job – that He would close the door.
God must have wanted us to stay put because the next day we got the phone call. (Honestly, it was a huge relief…we now can finish our re-model.)
So, now was the obstacle of the “Re-Model“. Well, Thursday at 4:00 a.m. – we finished grouting our tile. That is a huge relief! We just have to finish the kitchen cabinets, put granite in the bathroom, tile our office and playroom then remodel the playroom. (Not much – compared to where we started.)
So, after we heard about the job and finished the tile – we decided to go get Brighton Joy.
(Brighton is a city in England – we like culture names and Joy comes from the Lord and leaning not on our own understanding but trusting in Him!)
I should mention she is about 5 weeks old. I have never had a puppy. I’m now reading every book about training labs. She traveled over 10 hours in the car yesterday and never had an accident or really whimpered. She is bringing much JOY to our lives thus far!
Blessings to you! You are loved!

Just precious! We had a black lab years ago and she was such a joy to have. We had to leave her with my in-laws when we moved. We always loved visiting her when we went home for the holidays. She passed away on Christmas morning 3 years ago. I will never forget her. You and your family will have an awesome time with your new lab!

Very sweet! I’ve heard puppies are more work than babies though… Good luck!
