I gave my hubby and my sweet friend C. a birthday party. They share a birthday, which I got to tell you…it makes me so happy when friends have easy birthdays for me to remember – like ones that are the same as my family members.
Let me tell you…this has been one of the easiest parties I have ever planned.
The colors were simple – green, gold, and purple.
The menu:
Red Beans and Rice Dip/ Chips
G’s Famous Bean Dip/ Chips
Bayou Cake
Margarita Cake
Beignets
(Hot dogs for kids)
This is what we broiled the shrimp broil in… This is what I usually use…I thought it was big at 16 quarts. This is the difference…the bigger is 30 quarts. You can’t have a cajun party without beignets. I had never made these before…I’m still perfecting it – I assure you. This was the Margarita Cake…was is the operative word.
I forgot to take a picture of the other cake…but trust me – delicious! I had the last piece for breakfast!
In our house, right before a party, something always happens and it always involves dirt.
Our youngest started crying – loudly! My hubby and I of course rushed out to see what had happened. This is what we saw. We told him to wait just a sec why we got the camera and take a picture of him. He didn’t appreciate it.
He just wanted the dirt out of his mouth. I’m still not a 100 percent what happened.
Now for the party…
Here is C. – She made the coffee (on her birthday, we put her to work. That is what friends are for.) Except that C. made French Market coffee and it is a very STRONG type of coffee. So much fun… This is G. and her hubs. She makes an unbelievable bean dip. This was the Creole Jambalaya.
So simple and really didn’t have that “box” taste, I was expecting. I also made this for the non-seafood lovers. My precious Birthday Boy with our Princess. I’m so honored to be his wife! I can’t imagine life without him! Here just some of our precious friends. By the time – I remembered to take pictures, half the guests had left. I’ll have to treasure the memories of them in my photographic mind. Oh, wait, those cells are taken…maybe, I should have another party. This is what the cake looked like later…oh so yummy!
Here are just a few of the decorations:
D. is for my hubby’s first initial. I love the shiny! My kids did this…so simple, yet added sparkle. Of course, Mardi Gras beads! Our Mardi Gras Tree We even painted stars…I just loved the colors. Here is a post how I explained them and what they mean to me.
One of my fave moments….
At the very end of the party, my in-laws showed up. They had been driving for 2 days. This is my precious Mother-in-Law. I just loved that she got all dolled up for the picture! Too precious!!!
Blessings to you! You are loved!

My perfect party: hubby, friends and food, food, food! It looked fabulous, and good for you for all the effort you made.
(Good for m-i-l too for having the energy to smile after all that driving!) x
