Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum Economics Review

March 24, 2017 Lana

I have a confession to make.  I LOVE economics!  It was one of my favorite courses in high school. The economics’textbook, was one, I could read for pleasure and not for a class.  It just made sense to me – I loved to shop and I needed to help the economy.  I should also mention I had a love for government and world economics as well.  It still is interesting to me how one market affects another.

Skip ahead a couple of decades.

My kids are in high school and need an economics class.  My husband has led financial planning classes for years and our children have attended and asked amazing questions.  But, they still needed more to actually use for high school credit and something that they would truly enjoy!

I came across this easy High School Economics Course that would be so easy to implement even with their already crammed school course load.

The Paradigm Curriculum Economics Course – Overview

The full course includes:

  • A Teacher’s Resource Kit
  • 3 Activity Workbooks
  • 3 Text Workbooks
  • 3 ring binder (not included) or put in a spiral bound book for easier handling (Instructions are included in the Teacher’s Resource Kit.)

PAC Economics Activity Books

Principles and Precepts Table of Contents

Okay, so what did I LOVE about this curriculum?!

Economics Vocabulary

Each page has a Vocabulary Box and an applicable Life Principle in the Text books.

High school students are preparing for the ACTs and the SATs, these little boxes are like little treats when preparing for these tests.

Just a simple overview helps provoke questions so if they are having trouble understanding they can be thought provoking conversation starters.

I also love that it is bite size lessons.  It is not overwhelming for when high school is already filled to the brim with so much information.

One of the other major positive factors is that this works with alongside my other major curriculum.  It has the history of Ancient to Modern economics – which is really just another way to strengthen my kids skills in these other subjects.  I love whole teaching.  Like getting vitamins and minerals from a well balanced diet instead of taking horse pills.  It just makes it easier to digest.

Another reason, I love this Economics Course is it tells you about starting a small business, text book 3.  Seriously, real life information – so helpful!  Oh, I wish someone would have explained these details to me when I was younger instead of just filling my head with useless facts.

Homeschool Economics Curriculum

Overall, I would give the PAC Economics Course an A+ for an Economics Course!

As with any course, I would always add documentaries, biographies, and maybe even a field trip.

We are very proud of the wonderful economics course written by Dan Charland. He makes the study of economics understandable and engaging. Our latest course, Histography: A Survey of the 50 United States, is also an engaging course that opens awareness of the many components of American Exceptionalism: the people, resources, principles, and geography. Thank you for reviewing Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum! Sincerely, Ronald E. Johnson, President

Mr. Charland did an excellent job on this curriculum! I am going to use it with all 5 of my kids. So simple to understand and very interesting, which makes it profitable for all.
