Painting a chair

When the kids left to visit their Grandparents during the Easter Break, my sweet hubby took off a week of vacay and we worked on a few DIY projects.
One of them was this chair in our girls’ room.
I should warn you, I’ve been told – I take a lot of photos.
I don’t like missing any details. I mean, don’t you want to see my hubby’s foot in that photo? And the mess on the floor?
I bought this chair years ago, at Goodwill for about $3.00.
The paint was free from Lowes. By the way, go with the grain. Go with the grain. I don’t always go with the grain. But, a true good DIY’er always goes with the grain. So go with the grain!
You might could call this a super cheap makeover.
I call it – frugal and beautiful. I didn’t care if the navy blue bled through, it added character just like the rest of my home. I like character and spunk. And personality. Love personality! Have I mentioned I got Best Personality in high school – what a joke. I was a moody teenager. But, I am drawn to people with spunky personalities.
I love shaker style chairs. I don’t like the Shaker lifestyle. Did you know the Shakers were forbidden to marry? I’m a homeschooler – we know a lot of useless trivia.
This blue is called Nautical. I used it here on my girls’ Eiffel Tower Dresser.
Seriously, the chair makes me happy. I mean to the point of walking in the room to make sure it is still there. I know I’m weird.
I love how it turned out and brought that corner together. An elegant corner for reading or just doing what Princesses like to do…nails, hair, and bless their Mommy.
Well, maybe not the last one. Well, maybe. Hmm….

Thank you for coming to my blog and reading about my pretty chair. One day, I hope to write about their awesome custom bunk bed by my hubby. Until then, you’ll have to wait in suspense. I don’t know how to type true suspense music or I would.
Blessings to you! You are loved!

Hi Lana
Love your little chair redo. One of my passion is to find and redo chairs and tables!
BTW I didn’t know that about the Quakers.
Hugs

Hi Sissie,
I’m always on the hunt for a new DIY project. I just got 2 new-to-me tables from a garage sale. Cannot wait to paint them.
It wasn’t the Quakers but the Shakers. I know they sound the same but way different theologies. Lol! Shakers came up with so many beautiful furniture designs.
Blessings,
lana
